The Real Estate Channel

News, Real Estate Channel

What an interesting 2 weeks it has been. Recently, we were contacted by Leon Ng, President of the Real Estate Channel. He wanted to discuss how our 2 companies could work together to increase the use of video as a marketing tool within the real estate industry.

For those who are unfamiliar with the Real Estate Channel, they will be broadcasting on channel 80 on the Novus Network (www.novusnow.ca) and just launched their website, www.realestatechannel.ca on November 28th. Novus Entertainment, the parent company of the network has an affiliation with Concord Pacific and has built a fibre optic cable network throughout the Greater Vancouver area and offers high-speed Internet and television services. They service the majority of major condominium buildings in the downtown core.

The Real Estate Channel is offering property listings, community profiles and industry advice to its viewership. Real estate agents will again be challenged to evaluate the effectiveness of traditional mediums such as newspaper listings in comparison to the new mediums that have become available over the last few years.

The Real Estate Channels launch is an opportunity for all real estate professionals to promote themselves through the use of a medium that has not been previously available in the Vancouver area. The most proactive agents, the early adopters, will receive the greatest benefit when it comes to advertising on the network. Why is this? The Real Estate Channel currently promises that your ad will be played a minimum, 12 times per day. The reality of starting a new network, especially one that is based on selling TV time, amounts to tremendous opportunities for the first agents that advertise their listings. The amount of content in rotation maybe be less than the 2 hours that constitutes their 12 cycles. Bottom line, your ad gets played more than the 12 times that is promised!

Our discussions with Leon have resulted in great opportunities for Video Openhouse and our clients. We provided the network with 30 second versions of our current videos and in return, our clients have receive free television airtime for 1 month to promote themselves and their listings. We will continue to act as an extended production team for the Real Estate Channel, providing video content for their property listings. As an extension of the services we currently provide, we will also be offering to prepare content for the Real Estate Channel for our current clients as well.

Please take time to visit their website and if you have access to the Novus Network, watch for their television launch sometime next week.

Assignment Video – How Can Realtors Protect Themselves and Their Clients

News, Real-Estate

Have you seen the video we produced for Richard Bell and Ron Usher of Bell Alliance, Lawyers & Notaries Public?  We recently filmed their presentation on assignments held at The Arbutus Club for RE/Max Crest Realty (Westside).  Assignments are a hot topic for realtors in Vancouver area with all the condo developments being built in and around the city.  Events such as the cancellation of the Bambu Development by Anthem Properties in Victoria has shown that assignments are not without risk.  The video is essentially a guide to help realtors protect themselves and their clients from situations such as these.

Here is the video for Assignments – Top 10 Issues presented by Bell Alliance.

Video Tours For Vacation Rentals

Helpful Tips, News

We recently produced a video for our 2nd holiday/vacation accomodation. Helene Kelly of the Auld Dublin Guest House had contacted us to create a video tour of her Bed and Breakfast at 988 West 19th Avenue. And what a charming place it is! Here is the link to the video:

Video – Auld Dublin Guest House

Video is a great way to showcase your summer rental home on the beach, Bed and Breakfast and/or condo in the mountains. Even though we specailize in the production of video for the real estate industry, we are always open to new ideas and new markets. If it involves video on the Internet, let us work with you to fulfill your vision.

Australian Interest In Real Estate Videos and the Upcoming Olympics

News

I will admit to being obsessed with our web statistics.  We have learned so much about who is visiting our website and how videos are being viewed by analysing our monthly, weekly and daily statistics.

One of the results that struck me as being out of the ordinary, was from the country of origin.  In a nutshell, the counrty of origin is determined by the 2 or 3 letter extension associated with the web address of the host company of the originating IP address (sorry for all the techno babble).  For example, if your Internet access was provided by yourhost.pl, the counrty of origin would be determined by the “.pl”, equating to Poland.  This is hardly an exact science, since not all .com addresses originate in the US, but it is a general indication of where our visitors are coming from.

The result that seemed out of the ordinary was the fact that Australia has consistently ranked as the 3rd highest country of origin behind only Canada and the US.  Australia consistently beat out other contenders China, Hong Kong, Great Britain, the European Union, the Russian Federation and South Korea.  I realize that there are a lot of Australians here in Vancouver, considerably more than in my hometown of Toronto, but this result struck me as being skewed and somewhat illogical.

We often talk with our clients about maximizing the marketing value of their videos and this often includes a discussion about the number of views of their particular videos.  Our statistics clearly reveal that our videos are a great international marketing tool.  I had mentioned to a number of our clients that a significant number of views had originated from Australia.  The overwhelming concensus was that the interest was a direct result of investors viewing Vancouver real estate as having great financial potential with the Olympics arriving in 2010.  Having experienced the first-hand effects of the Olympics on real estate prices, Australia/Sydney residents are anticipating similar effects on real estate prices here in Vancouver.

Video For Commercial Properties – Local Businesses Marketed Internationally

News

We just produced our first commercial video listing for a popular neighbourhood restaurant, The Grove Inn (1047 Denman Street) for Andrew Chan, owner of Realtyline.  Commercial listings attract interest from a much broader geographic area as foreign investors and individuals/families wishing to emigrate look for business opportunities in cities with robust economies.  Video is a great medium to give more context to any real estate listing, and is ideal for commercial properties in large part due to its ability to market local businesses to international audiences.
